Frequently Asked Questions

When and where was the Komfort Pets Carrier first introduced?

Last year, we introduced our concept prototype Komfort Pets Carrier at the Global Pet Expo in Orlando, Florida. Our product generated fantastic reviews, and the interest in purchasing our state-of-the-art pet carrier was overwhelming. Immediately after the show, we began gathering suggestions and data from veterinarians, buyers, trainers and handlers, and (most importantly) pet owners like you. We listened and responded to your valuable opinions. The Komfort Pets Carrier II was officially unveiled and launched at the 2008 Global Pet Expo in San Diego, California.

In what sizes are Komfort Pets Carriers available?

The Komfort Pets Carrier II will be available in the following dimensions:

  • Small (19" x 13" x 16")
  • Medium (28" x 19.5" x 22.5")
  • Large (38.5" x 26.5" x 31")

Our large carrier includes a retractable handle and wheels.

How does the Komfort Pets Carrier II work?

The Komfort Pets Carrier II safely and automatically controls the pet's environment by using an efficient patent-pending combination conduction/convection design that complements the pet's natural methods of temperature regulation. When activated, the technology automatically determines whether the conductive plate needs to be heated, cooled, or non-operational based on electronic sensing of ambient air temperature. When in the heating or cooling modes, a thermoelectric element warms or cools a portion of the floor to a preset (veterinarian recommended) temperature set point. In cooling mode, a fan blows a gentle stream of cool air towards the pet simultaneously with the cooling of the floor of the carrier. This combination system has been shown to have the optimal temperature regulation results.

Why does the Komfort Pets Carrier II use a dual conduction/convection system?

Our engineering team has ingeniously designed the Komfort Pets Carrier II around the natural temperature control behaviors of pets. We observed that pets tend to migrate to cool spots (such as tile or concrete floors) in warm weather and warm spots (such as pavement heated by the sun) during cooler months. We have provided a highly conductive cooled/heated aluminum portion of the floor of the carrier that will come into contact with the pet's paws and underside (conduction sequence). We have also provided a gentle stream of cool air that the pet can breathe (convection sequence). The patent-pending design of the Komfort Pets Carrier II provides these two methods of temperature control simultaneously and is programmed to automatically remain within veterinarian-recommended parameters.

Can my pet choose its own comfort level while in a Komfort Pets Carrier II?

We have designed the heating/cooling plate on a portion of the carrier floor to allow the pet to regulate itself and lie on either the normal plastic portion of the floor or the cooled/warmed portion of the floor as it wishes. Your pet is ultimately in charge of its own level of comfort.

Can the user control the temperature settings of the Komfort Pets Carrier II?

The Komfort Pets Carrier II has been designed and programmed to work automatically. You simply need to turn the power on, and it will automatically sense the ambient temperature and activate either the combination cooling or heating mode as programmed in the predetermined veterinarian-recommended set points. With the new improvements to the design of the Komfort Pets Carrier II, a user may control the level of airflow or opt for the new “fan only” mode.

Does the Komfort Pets Carrier II have any safety features?

The technology is programmed to always operate within a safe temperature range for the animal. Two additional independent electromechanical switches are installed as backup protection. We included this added protection in order to put the safety and well-being of all pets first.

What are the specifications on the power supply, adapter, and cord connection that will be included with every Komfort Pets Carrier II?

The Komfort Pets Carrier II provides heating and cooling utilizing a 110-volt electrical outlet with a 12-volt DC converter or by the 12-volt power outlet in a car, SUV, RV, private plane, or boat. All cords and adapters are included with every Komfort Pets Carrier II. The power cord plugs directly into the back of the carrier and can be removed and stored when heating or cooling is not desired. A three-hour rechargeable backup battery accessory (with carry bag) is also available for use when ordinary power sources are absent.

Can I use the Komfort Pets Carrier II on an airline?

The Komfort Pets Carrier II is now FAA-approved for airline travel. We are currently working with the airlines to either provide power in the cargo area of the plane or allow a battery to power the carrier. Presently, most airlines have not yet provided 12-volt power in the cargo area, and we are working with them to determine which battery will be acceptable. We will keep you updated on progress and advise you to call ahead to the airline you will be traveling and determine if their planes are compatible with the Komfort Pets Carrier II. Please note that you can absolutely ship the Komfort Pets Carrier II as you would a standard carrier if you choose not to turn the power on.

Can I customize my carrier?

Exotic and unique customized finishes (including camouflage) will be available upon request and special order. Custom manufactured versions of the Komfort Pets Carrier II can be used in police and military applications and are ideal for use by animal control officers. They are also a perfect accessory for limousine and executive car providers to offer their patrons. Registered owners will be notified of new products, options, and customizations as they become available.
